November Newsletter 2021
Hello Friends!
I apologize for getting the monthly newsletter out a little later than I intended. My husband and I are expecting our first little one in the next few weeks and I’ve been doing some prepping for the big day! We are so excited and blessed to welcome our little boy into the world soon. I wanted to say thank you for your patience while we transition into this new season of life.
Speaking of transitions, I feel like we got a bit of an extended fall this year compared to last! I want to remind you all, it is not too late to wrap up some winterizing before any winter storms decide to bless us with that frosty, hot cocoa worthy air.
A Few Quick Reminders for Winterizing:
-Sprinklers turned off and flushed
-Patio furniture put away
-Gutters flushed and inspected
-Rake leaves as they fall making it less overwhelming.
Should You Decorate For The Holidays If Your House is on the Market?
Celebrating the holidays while selling your home? Not sure if you should even bother to decorate? Don’t fret! I have some ideas on how to handle this! I honestly believe that it can add a sense of whimsy and wonder that will allow buyers to envision themselves in your home.
My personal advice is to do what you’d always do when selling your home. Start with declutter and cleaning! The best way to show off your beautiful space is to minimize what’s in it. Minimize what is on bookshelves, clean off table tops, counters, and end tables. If you have room in the garage or attic I suggest starting to pack up things you don’t currently need. Perhaps it’s excess books, files, blankets, or knickknacks. Donate what you’ve outgrown, or hoping to refresh once you move to places like Savers, or Goodwill (hint keep the receipt for taxes!). Take down personal photos so that anyone touring your home can better envision themselves there. Just remember, less is more right now.
After this has been completed I recommend decorating minimally. For Thanksgiving, I recommend some pumpkins on the porch, a nicely decorated table, or some fall accents strategically placed around the house. Think plaid throw pillows and throws. Colors of gold, orange, red, and brown. For Christmas, a beautifully done tree (less personalized ornaments more generic if possible) with a mantel of stockings and a few well placed strings of lights is perfect to set the mood. Remember, you still live there, and you should still get to enjoy the holidays! Friendly reminder, if putting any up around exterior of your house, make sure you take them down afterwards! Don’t leave them up for the new owners. Have questions? Not sure how to achieve this look? Just reach out! I’m happy to help!
November Recipe:
Butternut Squash Soup
Ingredients:
butternut squash
2 large carrots
1 onion
pumpkin seeds
plain greek yogurt
chicken broth
cinnamon
nutmeg
sage
salt
pepper
Note! You need an immersion blender or food processor for this soup.
- Heat Oven to 425. Slice your butternut squash in half. Cut carrots into large chunks. Cut onion in half. Using a large baking sheet, place squash, carrots and onion onto a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place in oven for 40-60 minutes. Or until everything is fork tender.
- Using a spoon scoop out your butternut squash. Toss the seeds and the rind. Place your butternut squash into an immersion blender with a splash of chicken broth. Blend until well mixed. Place into a stock pot. Repeat this with the carrots and onion, adding it into the stock pot. Place heat on medium to low. Once all three are added, mix together using more chicken broth. I used about 2 cups. It depends on how thick of a soup you’d like. I lightly used the immersion blender until mixed. You could even use a hand mixer. Add salt, pepper, a few dashes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and sage. Season to taste. Add a half cup of plain greek yogurt. Stir until mixed.
- Heat on stove until warm. Serve in a bowl garnished with pumpkin seeds, a small scoop of greek yogurt, and a drizzle of olive oil. Tastes great with a side of sourdough toast!
Let me know if you have any questions in regards to anything discussed in this newsletter, or in the market! Stay warm!
